Heing Iramusu and Maha Iramusu are two types. Asafoetida is a common species found in Sri Lanka. Maha Iramusu is currently imported from India. A spreading or climbing plant that can be seen throughout the year. The smell of milk flowers. When prepared as herbal tea, it is a delicious and healthy drink.  

  A prostrate or shrubby semi-herbaceous plant. Fragrant aromatic roots and a very long stem like a whip. thick near parva. Young stems are pubescent and purple in color. Inter-parallel length cm. M. About 1.5-7.5. The leaves are simple. The interview is complete. various. Oblong-ovate to linear. Length about 3.8 -6.6 cm. Leaf apex acute or blunt. The base is acute or rounded dark green with a white stripe down the middle. The lower surface is pale. Petioles are very short. M. 1-2 long.

    A creeping or crawling plant. The stem is thin. Has fibrous roots. hairy Leaves are linear or oblong, dark green and with white stripes on the surface.

A cluster of flowers arising from leaf axils. Petals are green on the outside and purple on the inside. Wrinkled. Cylindrical, straight fruit divided into two parts. Black seeds are flat. The ends of the seeds are covered with white hairs.

•   Growing areas

    Iramusu is found in high and low, wet and dry regions of Sri Lanka. The roots of the type grown in Sri Lanka are smoother than those grown in India.

•     Medicinal properties

    Tridosha Shamakai. Air due to its sweet taste and sticky properties, bile due to cold phlegm and phlegm caused by bitter taste are sedated. Good for lactating mothers and diabetics as it has blood purifying properties. Eliminates swelling and thirst. Increases hunger. Digests food. Expels well.

In case of rash - drink boiled water of Iramusu root.

Urinary inflammation, painful urination - dry Iramusa root boiled drink.

For itching, inflammation, redness of eyes caused by food allergy - Iramusa root is boiled and drunk, crushed Iramusa root is given as tea and given to drink.

To wash inflamed wounds - using boiled water of Iramusu root.

For inflammation and swelling of the body - apply a paste made from the roots of Iramusu with water.

For rat poison - Iramusu root decoction, taken with ghee.

හීං ඉරමුසු සහ මහ ඉරමුසු ලෙස වර්ග දෙකකි. හීං ඉරමුසු ලංකාවේ බහුලව දක්නට ඇති වර්ගයකි. මහ ඉරමුසු දැනට ඉන්දියාවෙන් ආනයනය කරන වර්ගයයි. වසර මුළුල්ලේම දැකිය හැකි පැතිරී වැඩෙන හෝ ඉහළ නගින ආකාරයේ පැළෑටියකි. කිරි සහිතය. මල් සුවඳවත් ය. ඔසු පැන් ලෙස පිළියෙල කළ විට රසවත් මෙන්ම ගුණදායක පානයකි. වැතිරී වැඩෙන හෝ වල්ලිය ආකාරයේ අර්ධ පදුරුමය ශාකයකි. සුගන්ධවත් කාශ්ඨමය මුල් හා කසයක් වැනි ඉතා දිග කඳකි. පර්ව අසලදී ඝන වී ඇත. ළපටි කඳ බූ සහිත හා දම් පැහැතිය. අන්තර් පර්ව දිග සෙ. මී. 1.5-7.5 පමණ වේ. පත්‍ර සරලය. සම්මුඛය නිපත්‍රිය යි. විවිධාකාර ය. ආයත- ඕව්ලාකාර සිට රේඛීය වේ. සෙ.මී. 3.8 -6.6 පමණ දිග ය. පත්‍ර අග්‍රය තීව්‍ර හෝ මොට ය. පාදය තීව්‍ර හෝ රවුම් තද කොළ පාට හා මැද නාරටිය දිගේ වැටුණු සුදු ඉරකින් යුක්තය. පහළ පෘෂ්ඨය ළා පැහැති ය. පත්‍ර වෘන්ත ඉතා කෙටි ය. මි. මී. 1-2 දිග ය.

වැලක් ලෙස හෝ එතෙමින් වැඩෙන පැළෑටියකි. කඳ සිහින්‍ ය. කාෂ්ඨමය මුල් සහිතයි. කේශර සහිතය. රේඛීය වූ හෝ දික් වූ රවුම් හැඩයෙන් යුත් පත්‍ර, මතුපිට සුදු ඉරක් සහිතව තද කොළ පැහැයෙන් යුක්තයි. පත්‍ර සවිවන ස්ථානවලින් හටගන්නා මල් පොකුරකි. මල් පෙතිවල පිට පැත්ත කොළ පැහැ වන අතර ඇතුළු පැත්ත දම් පැහැයක් ගනියි. රැලි ගැසී ඇත. සිලින්ඩරාකාර, ඍජු ඵලය කොටස් දෙකකට බෙදී ඇත. කළු පැහැ බීජ පැතලිය. බීජවල අග සුදු පැහැති කේශර සහිතයි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තරමක් උස් සහ පහත්, තෙත් සහ වියළි ප්‍රදේශවල ඉරමුසු වැවේ. ඉන්දියාවේ වැවෙන වර්ගයට වඩා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වැවෙන වර්ගයේ මුල් සුමට ය.
